Customer Spotlight: The Salvation Army Southern Territory
The Salvation Army originally started in London in 1852, and expanded into the United States around the late 1870s. From that it grew into an international organization covering 128 countries and has a membership of over 1.7 million people. The Salvation Army Southern Territory, founded in 1927, now covers fifteen southern states in the US and is headquartered in Atlanta, GA. We have been working with the Salvation Army Southern Territory for more than three years now, and so we thought we’d shine a spotlight on the many good deeds that they do! We asked Service Operations Manager Elfreda Parks for more info.
Can you explain a bit more about the Salvation Army’s mission?
The Salvation Army is more than a charity, it’s also a Church. Our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. This is accomplished through no-cost programs like adult drug and alcohol rehabilitation, homeless shelters, food pantries, domestic violence services, emergency disaster response, local low-income community centers, and churches.
Who wears your ties — employees, customers, volunteers?
The ties we buy are worn by our ministers and seminary students daily, as well as by many of our church members wear them on Sunday.
What of Salvation Army’s works are you most proud of?
Helping others around the world. People that have fallen on hard times know The Salvation Army is here to help, whether it’s during a natural disaster in the US, or learning a new trade at fair wages in Kenya.
